; Sharifa Mohammadi, a labor activist, was sentenced to death on charges of treason

Sharifa Mohammadi, a labor activist who was arrested seven months ago and is currently being held in the women's ward of Lakani Prison in Rasht (Rasht Central Prison), has been sentenced to death by the Islamic Republic of Iran's judiciary on charges of “treason”. Sharifa Mohammadi, a labor activist from Rasht, was recently sentenced by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, presided over by Judges Ahmad Darwish Goftar and Mahdi Raskh, on charges of “treason” by being a member of the coordination committee which was adopted in 2713, was sentenced to death.

According to documents obtained by Hangaw, the sentence was officially announced to Sharifa Mohammadi's lawyer and an appeal was approved by the Supreme Court 20 days after the sentence was handed down.

“The country's intelligence agency as an expert is our only expert and reliable source for identifying the members of the groups. This alone proves the lack of independence of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a clear evidence of the interference of the security agencies in the judiciary.

It is worth mentioning that the hearing of Sharifa Mohammadi's charges was held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Rasht.

Earlier, Hangaw reported that Sharifa Mohammadi, a Turkish citizen from Rasht, was placed under mental and physical pressure by the officials of the Sanandaj Intelligence Office in order to obtain a forced confession.

Sharifa Mohammadi was arrested on Tuesday (December 5, 2023) by the intelligence forces at her home in Rasht and has spent the past seven months (212 days) in Sanaa and Lakani Rasht Central Prisons and the intelligence detention centers of those two cities.
